Homework is set regularly throughout the school, the expectations and the amount increasing during the four years.  Parents are encouraged to be involved in their child’s work at home and to support them.

This will encourage children to:

·         Develop further good work habits and independent study skills.

·         Develop self-discipline and a self-motivating attitude to study.

·         Practise and reinforce skills learned in the classroom.

·         Consolidate and extend work begun with teachers in class.

·         Enhance study by making greater use of materials and sources of information that may not be available in the classroom.

The relationship between a child’s home and school must form an important part of any successful education.  A home/school agreement is included at the back of this Prospectus. We will work very hard to live up to parental expectation and do all in our power to develop the full potential of those entrusted to us.  However, we cannot do this without the full support of the parents.  You can actively support the education of your child in the following ways:

·         By showing REAL interest in what they are doing at school.

·         By attending every available parents’ evening to meet your child’s
     teachers.

·         By keeping the school informed of problems or difficulties at home that
     may affect a child’s progress.

·         By helping with homework.

·         By volunteering to help in class or on visits and outings

·         By becoming involved in the Parent Teachers’ Association.

·         By contacting the school if you are concerned about anything.

We encourage parents to contact their child’s class teacher in the first instance. They know your child better than anyone else in school. Should the matter not be resolved or if you need further advice, a senior member of staff will always be available to help - you should contact the school office in order to make an appointment.

We also actively encourage parents to share their skills with us in school time.  Initially contact your child’s teacher if you can help in this way, or leave your name, times available and how you can assist us with the school office

HOME SCHOOL CONTACT BOOK

Each child will have a home school contact book. This is a first line of contact between home and school and incredibly helpful to both us and to you as parents. In this book it is appropriate for:

·         your child to write - homework instructions; reminders to deposit fees
etc; reminders about parents evenings, school letters needing
     responses, etc.

·         the teacher to write informal notes to a parent.

·         the parent to write informal notes to the teacher

LINKS WITH PARENTS

There are Parents’ Evenings in the Autumn and Spring Terms when parents have the opportunity to discuss their child’s progress in detail.  At the end of the Summer Term parents are invited to discuss their child’s year report with the class teacher. Other appointments may be made throughout the year as necessary.

SCHOOL FUND

Parents are invited to subscribe to our School Fund.  This provides extras that help to improve the general environment of the school. The amount is decided each year by the Governors in liaison with the PTA . The PTA collect these donations on behalf of the school and ask parents wherever possible to make a Gift Aid declaration.
